Eight boxers will represent Team USA at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Four male boxers and four female boxers have qualified for the United States through the three qualifying tournaments. Team USA is looking to claim the first gold medal in boxing for the United States since Claressa Shields in 2016. 

 

Five American boxers, Jahmal Harvey (Oxon, Md.), Morelle McCane (Cleveland, Ohio), Joshua Edwards (Houston, Texas), Jennifer Lozano (Laredo, Texas) and Jajaira Gonzalez (Glendale, Calif.) punched their tickets to Paris at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games. The second opportunity to qualify was at the first Olympic Games World Qualification Tournament in Busto Arsizio, Italy, where Omari Jones (Orlando, Fla.) qualified. Alyssa Mendoza (Caldwell, Idaho) and Roscoe Hill (Spring, Texas) secured their Olympic spots in the final Olympic Qualification Tournament in Bangkok, Thailand.  

 

Athletes to Watch:
  • Jahmal Harvey - Jahmal Harvey, 21, won the gold medal at the 2021 Elite World Championships and was the first American male to win an elite world title since 2007. Competing at just 18 years old, he was one of the youngest in the whole field at those World Championships. Harvey, from Oxon Hill, Md., grew up playing football and was introduced to boxing by his football coach, who also coached boxing. He is a multi-time gold medalist at USA Boxing National Championships at the junior, youth and elite levels. Harvey recently qualified to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games.
  • Morelle McCane - will represent Team USA in Paris at 66 kg. The Cleveland native brought home one gold and two silvers in her three international tournaments in 2023. McCane, 29, etched her name in the history books for her city with a top-two finish in Santiago. She became the fifth straight boxer and first female to qualify to an Olympic Games from Cleveland. With her qualification to Paris, she also became just the second female boxer from the state of Ohio to compete in an Olympic Games.
