Volunteer Program
The USOPC sports medicine volunteer program offers providers the opportunity to support Team USA by working alongside USOPC Sports Medicine team members to provide an integrative, collaborative, multidisciplinary care approach for athletes.
“From beginning to end, the staff and other providers were amazing. The energy and knowledge within the sports med clinic was something that I won't forget. The rotation felt organized, thorough, thoughtful, and beneficial. It was an incredible experience to get to work with high-level athletes and providers of all different specialties.”

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)#
A “typical day” in the clinic will vary based on your profession and some rotations may involve nights and weekends. Common patient encounter types include injury/illness evaluations, first-aid / emergency management, manual therapy sessions, injury rehabilitation, and practice coverage. Sports vary by location and while we do our best to plan for volunteers during “busy” times, we cannot guarantee a high activity volume.
The USOPC will provide room and board for Sports Medicine volunteers during their rotation. Volunteers are responsible for transportation to and from the rotation.
Based on the volume of applications we receive and our clinical needs, we are unable to provide a specific timeline for when you will be selected. Your patience is appreciated!
Once selected for a rotation, we will send out a list of available rotation dates. You will be asked to select your top three and we will create the schedule based on that. If you are unable to volunteer during any of the dates we send out, we will add you back into the pool for the next round.
Sports medicine volunteer rotations are available in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Lake Placid, New York, and Chula Vista, California. The location of your rotation will be based on availability and clinic needs. We cannot always accommodate specific location requests.
Participating in the USOPC Sports Medicine Volunteer Program does NOT guarantee placement at future events, including the Olympic and Paralympic Games, but it does make you eligible for consideration. Following the successful completion of a rotation, volunteers are added to our pool of medical providers to be possibly selected for future USOPC and/or NGB events.
