Fencing

The U.S. Olympic Fencing Team will compete in ten events at the Olympic Games Paris 2024 — individual and team events in women’s epee, men’s saber, women’s foil, women’s saber and men’s foil. Team USA will look to surpass its medal total from Tokyo, where the team won individual gold (Lee Kiefer, women’s foil) and team bronze (men’s foil). With three squads ranked in the top-3 in the world (men’s saber, women’s foil, men’s foil) and two individuals ranked no. 1 in their weapon (Lee Kiefer, Nick Itkin), Team USA is ready to make its mark on the Olympic fencing scene.

Athletes to Watch
  • Lee Kiefer — The world’s top-ranked women’s foil fencer won Olympic gold in Tokyo, becoming the first American to win gold in foil. Since then, she’s been on a hot streak, winning medals at senior events throughout the Olympic qualification window.

  • Nick Itkin — Itkin shines when the spotlight is at its brightest. After winning bronze at the 2022 World Championships and silver at the 2023 World Championships, Itkin has gotten even stronger, seeing his world ranking in men’s foil ascend to No. 1.

  • Eli Dershwitz — After winning gold at the 2023 World Championships — defeating the top three men’s saber fencers along the way — Dershwitz is hoping to carry his momentum into Paris.

  • Colin Heathcock — At 18, Heathcock is the youngest on the 2024 U.S. Olympic Fencing Team. But he has been dominant on the senior circuit — winning two golds and one bronze medal in 2024 already.
