Statement Regarding the Chinese Swimming Investigation

As the voice of Team USA athletes, we are disheartened and angry to hear that 23 athletes of a nation’s swim team leading up to the 2021 Olympic Games tested positive for a banned substance. We are also disappointed to learn of the allegations surrounding how the positive drug tests were handled by WADA.

There are Team USA and global athletes who were impacted by the misconduct in 2021, and who can never regain what was lost. Team USA athletes—like all athletes—deserve fairness in competition, which includes the knowledge that all competitors are complying with agreed-upon rules and are acting in the spirit of those rules. We need clean and fair sports and Team USA AC will continue to push hard to ensure the utmost of integrity in all competitions
