COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee today announced the USOPC medical staff and volunteer medical team members that will be entrusted with the care of over 850 U.S. athletes representing 53 sports at the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024. In addition to the 30 USOPC Sports Medicine staff members on the ground during the Olympic and Paralympic Games, the USOPC will bring an additional 28 medical professionals to help provide holistic support for Team USA.

“The combination of USOPC staff members and volunteer medical team members provides around-the-clock care for U.S. athletes, serving as an integral part of Team USA’s success at the Olympic and Paralympic Games,” said Dr. Jonathan Finnoff, USOPC chief medical officer. “In addition to USOPC staff who serve athletes year-round, providers from across the nation will join us this summer in Paris. These healthcare experts give their time and expertise freely to Team USA during the Games, helping create a safe environment for athletes and delegation members while playing a crucial role in the broad support of Team USA.”

The USOPC’s medical provider program supports Team USA by working alongside USOPC Sports Medicine team members to ensure enhanced integrative and multidisciplinary care approach for athletes. The staff will be located at several locations in Paris, including the Olympic and Paralympic Village and Team USA High Performance Center, as well as remote competition venues in France and as far away as Tahiti, where the Olympic surfing competition will be held.

Those selected for this for specialized program are licensed physicians, athletic trainers, chiropractors, massage therapists, physical therapists and psychological services practitioners credentialed for at least three years and have completed an exhaustive selection process.

“We have an incredible team of providers from across the country ready to support the athletes of Team USA where they train and compete,” said Amber Donaldson, USOPC vice president of sports medicine. “Planning for our support program has been ongoing to ensure we have great continuity of service for the athletes when they arrive. We are working closely with the organizing committee and Paris Medical Services in our planning and look forward to continued collaboration with them to deliver the athletes and full delegation a safe and successful Games.”
