U.S. Olympian Allyson Felix to run for election to the IOC Athletes’ Commission

by USOPC

Allyson Felix, Olympic champion and proud advocate for athletes, today announced her candidacy for election to the International Olympic Committee Athletes’ Commission.

The vote for Athletes’ Commission will occur during the Olympic Games Paris 2024 in a process open only to athletes at the Games. Felix stands with the full endorsement of the Team USA Athletes' Commission.

“I am honored to stand for election to the Athletes’ Commission, representing not only the athletes of the United States but all athletes of the world,” said Felix. “Global sport offers a huge and powerful platform, and as athletes who work hard to reach the level of Olympian or Paralympian, we are driven both by a love of competition and a desire to be leaders in our communities as well. I look forward to the opportunity to continue serving athletes and working closely with the AC and IOC members and leadership to create a stronger and more representative Olympic Movement.”

Allyson is already serving as an athlete representative on the IOC AC as an appointed member since 2022. In her two years on the commission, she has proven to be an active member, and willing listener and leader.

Felix stepped away from athletics following the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 – her fifth Olympic Games – as the most decorated female athlete in Olympic track and field history with seven gold medals and 11 total medals.

As Felix transitioned from competition, she established herself as a successful business owner of her brand, Saysh, and community voice as she stepped forward to raise awareness for maternity health and work to establish pathways for women to thrive in family, business, sport and community.

For the Paris 2024 Games, Felix championed a new initiative and the IOC partnered with Pampers to create the first nursery in the Olympic Village as a safe space where athlete mothers can bond with and care for their children. The nursery is a game-changer for athletes, and demonstrates Felix’s commitment to fostering a more inclusive and supportive world where motherhood can coexist with excellence and achievement.

In addition to her role on the IOC and Team USA ACs, she is also member of the LA28 Organizing Committee Athletes’ Commission.

She lives in Los Angeles with her husband, Kenneth, and children, Camryn and Kenneth (Trey).
