Leadership Message

We proudly reflect on 2023 – a year marked by foundational achievement for the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) and our community. In the lead up to the Paris 2024 Games, the USOPC set the stage for continued impact and excellence, bolstering key efforts and engaging our community around the transformative power of sport.

To further emphasize our role within the Olympic and Paralympic Movement, we evolved our mission: empowering the competitive excellence and well-being of Team USA athletes, championing the power of sport, and inspiring the nation. This mission underscores the role of Team USA athletes at the heart of the Movement and drives us forward across Athlete Excellence, Sport Advancement and Community Growth – our three impact areas.

Core to our work is our commitment to provide steadfast support for athletes, helping them achieve competitive excellence, pride and satisfaction. We stood behind Team USA at several momentous events in 2023, including the Pan American and Parapan American Games in Santiago, Chile – a pinnacle moment for many athletes and a significant qualification opportunity on the road to the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024. Off the field of play, we improved communication tools and transparency in resource availability through the launch of Agora – our digital wellness portal – while expanding wellness support and service provider offerings for Team USA athletes.

Together with the National Governing Bodies (NGBs), we've built a stronger future across the Movement, fostering passion for sport and cultivating an ecosystem as diverse as the country we represent. To do this, the USOPC worked in partnership with our community to develop a roadmap for success to revolutionize the Movement and guide our efforts as we look ahead to the next five years and hosting the Los Angeles 2028 Games.

Thanks to the support from our fans, donors and partners, 2023 marked a historic year for the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Foundation. It celebrated its tenth anniversary and raised record funds for Team USA. We also kept excitement aflame by kicking off the year-long countdown to the Paris 2024 Games with fan activations and a nationwide Paralympic Educational Roadshow to raise awareness of the Paralympics. As the largest National Olympic and Paralympic Committee, we continued to forge and maintain global ties through international elections while learning from and sharing best practices with other nations.

The accomplishments of 2023 set the USOPC and our community up for future success, including at Paris 2024, Milan/Cortina 2026, Los Angeles 2028 – the first Games on U.S. soil in over 25 years – and a potential Winter Games in Salt Lake City to follow. Guided by the strategic roadmap we’ve set in motion, these Games will catalyze the long-term growth and sustainability of the Movement for generations to come.

We extend boundless gratitude to you, the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic community, for the unwavering support that makes it possible for Team USA to continue inspiring, uplifting and transforming lives through the power of sport. Each one of you – from athletes and families to coaches and NGBs to sponsors, donors, staff and fans – plays a vital role in this Movement.
