    At the heart of a global, multi-sport ecosystem, the USOPC is a purpose-driven organization focused on holistically caring for and supporting Team USA while advancing the greater Olympic and Paralympic Movement. Our mission, core principles and core values are realized through three impact areas: Athlete Excellence, Sport Advancement and Community Growth.

Year in Review Highlights#

  • Athlete Excellence

    While Team USA shined at events throughout 2023, including the Pan American and Parapan American Games Santiago, the USOPC doubled down on caring for athletes at every stage of their journeys. This came to life through critical efforts including the launch of Agora, a new digital athlete wellness resource; the expansion of our Athlete Marketing Platform, which empowers athletes to develop and monetize their personal brands; and career advancement tuition grants that give athletes more control over their financial well-being than ever before.

    • 452 total medals won across the Pan American and Parapan American Games  

    • 30 Team USA athletes qualified for Paris 2024 Games
    • 335 athletes piloted Agora – our new digital and mobile athlete wellness platform  

    • 800 trained in mental health first aid by the end of 2023 

    • $721K allocated through the Technology and Innovation Fund  

    • $1.8M given in continuing education grants 

    • 400+ new athletes across 62 NGBs joined the Athlete Marketing Platform  

    • 1,200+ athletes reached through athlete services programs  

    • 475 athletes, 51 external National Governing Bodies (NGBs) and 7 internally managed sports participated in the Athlete Listening Survey 

    • 3 new USOPC/NCAA adaptive sport events held through Para College Inclusion work  

    • 11 NGBs recertified during annual audits 

    • 3% increase in people of color in leadership positions 

    • 1st annual DE&I NGB Summit held 

    • 50th anniversary of the Team USA Athletes’ Commission
    • 30th anniversary of our FLAME program celebrated 

    • 50% growth of and increased engagement with our Community Resource Groups 

    • 765 athletes supported by Athlete Ombuds 

    • 232 pro bono hours given, and $166,276 funding distributed through the Athlete Legal Aid program 

  • Sport Advancement

    In 2023, the USOPC rolled out more effective, inclusive operating and funding models to ensure NGB success and expanded our athlete pipeline by bringing Paralympic competition to key collegiate events throughout the year. The USOPC also continued cultivating an ecosystem as diverse as the country we represent – from our healthcare providers to our USOPC employees.

  • Community Growth

    Further fueling the Movement and positively impacting countless lives, the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Foundation (USOPF) raised record funds in its tenth year. The USOPC also drove greater value for our partners, strengthening the entire Movement's commercial and fundraising marketplace. We celebrated Team USA Community Champions who serve their communities through non-profit work, engaged fans at key cultural moments throughout the year and drove enthusiasm as we look to future Games.

    • $60M in new fundraising activity in a record-breaking year for the USOPF 

    • 100% of USOPF funds designated for athlete programming and services 

    • 350K+ monthly visitors to the new Team USA, USOPC and partner NGB sites
    • 201M impressions driven by 24 media appointments across 3 cities during the Paralympic Educational Roadshow

    • 103% increase in engagement with Paralympic content (compared to 2022)
    • 1-year countdown to the Paris 2024 Games celebrated with fans making their mark with made-to-fade tattoos 

    • 5 U.S. sport representatives elected to international roles
